NBA Top 10 - Nov 25, 2005
|
|
1. Detroit Pistons (9-1)
Off their first loss of the season (Dallas) this past week.
Playing with a real purpose and playing the most consistant
hoops in the league. Still capable of playing defense when
called upon to do so against the big teams.
2. Dallas Mavericks (8-2)
This weeks biggest mover (4 places). Making a statement after
blowing-out San Antonio at the start of the month, they followed
up last week with another blow-out win over Detroit. Their
off-season moves have paid off so far.
3. San Antonio (10-2)
despite injuries to both Barry and Findley, the Spurs are on
a five game winning streak including wins over Houston,
Phoenix, and Sacramento. It won’t be long before they’re
back where they have been for the last two years - top.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers (9-3)
The only serious threat coming out of the East so far to challenge
the Pistons although they have had an easier schedule than most.
Not relying on King James to get it done every night as this
team has depth.
5. Los Angeles Clippers (9-2)
The surprise package from the West and whilst the likes of
Phoenix and Sacramento keep slipping up, their post-season
chances improve. Now the number one team from LA after their
beating of the purple and Gold last week.
6. Milwaukee Bucks (6-4)
Despite only having a 6-4 record they have beaten the teams
from the East and lost to those from the West. A recent four
game road trip (one win) has set them back slightly. Their
success stems from winning the battle of the boards.
7. Indiana Pacers (7-3)
The Pacers have bounced back strong from a blow-out loss to
Charlotte with successive wins including Houston and Cleveland.
They will need to find a winning formula on the road if they
want to remain the most likely challenger to Detroit and Miami.
Look for this team to get stronger as the season goes deeper.
8. Memphis Grizzlies (7-5)
The third team from the Southwest Division in the top ten
helped by the performances of Shane Battier. Slight concern
they’ve lost their last two games to Denver and Portland with
two huge games on deck, Houston and Dallas. A candidate to fall
from the top ten by weeks end.
9. Denver Nuggets (7-6)
Winners of five of their last seven games, the Nuggets have got
over their slow start to the season. Post-season bound again
as they win the Northwest Division but they will need to
find consistency to challenge the main protagonist’s of
the West.
10. Phoenix Suns (6-5)
After losing a number games in the fourth quarter earlier
this season the Suns have rebounded nicely winning three of
their last four thanks to the exploits of leading scorer
Shawn Marion and his eight double-doubles. A five game home
stand and seven of their next ten at home, the Suns will
look to make ground on the Clippers.
